This policy explains what TuneHub (run by Muthukumaran M) collects, why, and the choices you have. We don't sell your personal data. The free plan shows ads from Google AdMob; paid plans are ad-free.
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), and when you accepted the terms.
- Your content: the audio files you upload and their details (title, artist, album, genre, length, size), cover pictures, lyrics and playlists.
- Listening activity: which songs you play, how long, when, and whether it was a downloaded (offline) song. We use it to show you your listening statistics and to count plays.
- Purchases: for paid plans, the Google Play purchase token and subscription status. We never see your card or bank details.
- Listen Together: the sessions you host or join, what the host is playing, songs suggested to the host, and chat messages you send in a session.
- Reports and blocks: reports you send about shared content, and people you block.
- Technical: the device name you sign in from and standard server logs (such as IP address and time of requests) used for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To run your account: store and stream your music, sync playlists, send sign-in codes.
- To show you your listening statistics and, for administrators, overall usage.
- To show content you chose to share to other users in Discover.
- To handle paid plans, prevent abuse, act on reports and keep the service secure.
Who can see it
- Your uploads and playlists are private unless you share them to Discover. Shared items show your name.
- In a Listen Together session, everyone in it sees your name, your chat messages, and the songs the host plays or that you suggest (only while they play, and only inside that session).
- TuneHub administrators can see account details, uploads and listening activity to run and moderate the service.
- Service providers that process data for us: our web hosting provider, our email provider (for sign-in codes), Google Play (for purchases), Ably (to deliver Listen Together updates and chat to the people in a session) and Google AdMob (to show ads on the free plan, as described below). We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
Ads (free plan)
On the free plan the app shows ads from Google AdMob: a banner, an occasional full-screen ad at natural breaks (never while music is playing), and optional rewarded video ads you can choose to watch for extra storage. To show and measure ads, AdMob collects data directly from your device, such as your advertising ID, IP address (approximate location), device information, and how you interact with ads. Your music, playlists, listening history and account details are not shared with advertisers. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent first; you can change it at any time in My Space → Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Settings → Google → Ads). Learn more in how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Upgrading to a paid plan removes ads.
Rewarded ads: when you watch a rewarded ad, Google confirms the completed view directly to our server. We record each reward attempt (your account, time, IP address, the AdMob transaction ID and whether it was approved) to give you the storage, enforce the daily limit and detect abuse. This log is kept while your account exists and is deleted with it.
Downloads on your phone
Songs you download for offline listening are stored in the app's private storage on your phone. Other apps can't read them, and they are removed when you remove the download, sign in with another account, or uninstall the app.
How long we keep it
Listen Together chat messages are deleted 7 days after their session ends (the time we need to review any reports). We keep your other data while your account exists. When your account is deleted, your files, playlists, listening history, reports and blocks are deleted. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security.
Storage over your plan's limit
The free plan includes a set amount of storage (currently 1 GB, plus any bonus storage you earn from rewarded ads). If you store more than that while on the free plan, for example after a paid plan or bonus storage ends, we keep all your songs for a grace period of 40 days:
- We email you as soon as your account goes over the limit, and again every 15 days until the grace period ends. Each email includes a private link to download your songs.
- During the grace period you can download your songs, delete songs you don't need, upgrade to a paid plan, or earn bonus storage. Any of these that brings you back within the limit ends the grace period. The app also shows the removal date in My Space.
- If your library is still over the limit after 40 days, we permanently delete your most recently uploaded songs (with their cover pictures and lyrics) until it fits within the limit, and email you a list of what was removed. Your other songs, playlists and account are not affected.
Paid plans keep their full storage while they're active.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile, and delete songs, playlists and downloads, in the app at any time.
- Delete your account in the app (My Space → Delete account) or on the delete account page.
- Ask us for a copy of your data or for corrections by emailing us.
Security
Connections to TuneHub are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, and sign-ins need a code sent to your email.
Children
TuneHub isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
We'll post updates here and tell you in the app or by email about significant changes.
